Award winning Hertfordshire companies were the first to hear the details of a new set of awards being organised in the county and sponsored by the local branch of FSB.
With the much-loved FSB Hertfordshire Business Awards being laid fallow this year and a hard act to follow, the all new SME Hertfordshire Business Awards have been launched to fill the void with the expectancy that they will be bigger and better.
Pam Charman, chairman of the Hertfordshire branch of FSB (The Federation of Small Businesses), said: “FSB is delighted to be a headline sponsor, alongside Clydesdale Bank, of these new awards. As they no longer bear our brand in isolation, it is much clearer that any business in Hertfordshire will be able to enter and I would give them all every encouragement to do so.
“It is also clearer to our target market that they don’t have to be just a “small” business to enter. The definition of an SME – small and medium enterprise – is much more clearly understood.”
To get the ball rolling on the 2017 awards, the organisers, Events & PR, held a Winners Circle gathering at Hertford Theatre, in The Wash, Hertford, on Tuesday (December 6).
They also took part in a Mannequin Challenge, where they stood like statues as part of a craze sweeping the internet.
Past winners, runners-up and sponsors from the former awards turned up in numbers to hear the news about the new awards.
Pam added: “Hertfordshire businesses are not used to standing still but they did a good job with their #MannequinChallenge, although I did notice a few twitches!
“Overall, this was a was a very positive event; hearing how the previous winners of FSB awards have gone from strength to strength and of course to communicate the new SME name, encourage them to enter again and to spread the word.
“As the largest business organisation in Hertfordshire, I look forward to hearing even more success stories emerge. I am very excited about this and can’t wait for the formal launch of the awards early next year!”
SME Hertfordshire Business Awards are part of a raft of awards rolled out under that banner which thus far include the counties of Surrey, Bedfordshire Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, London, Coventry and Warwickshire and Northants.
